Four things. That's it.
The answers we actually give, not the marketing version.
It depends on how much you work. A provider online for 2 hours in the evening typically takes 4-6 calls ($200-$300). A provider who keeps the app open during downtime at their main job can easily clear $500-$1,000/week. There's no cap — you earn $50 per completed consult.
You need active malpractice coverage before you can take a single call. This is non-negotiable — you're practicing medicine on real patients and we won't let you do that uninsured. You have three paths:
1. Check your current employer's policy. Many NP/PA/MD employment policies include "moonlighting" or independent telehealth coverage. Ask your HR department or malpractice coordinator. If covered, you're done — no new policy needed.
2. Get a telehealth-specific policy. Quotes take 5 minutes. Policies for NPs run $40-75/month. Trusted brokers: CM&F Group, NSO, or American Professional.
3. Join your professional association. AANP, AAPA, and state associations often bundle malpractice into membership. Check what you already belong to.
Minimum required coverage: $1M per occurrence / $3M aggregate, telehealth-compatible. You attest to this in the Provider Agreement — misrepresentation is grounds for immediate termination and personal liability for any resulting claims.
No. You're an independent contractor. You set your own hours. You use your own EMR. You carry your own insurance. You bill your own taxes (Stripe sends a 1099 at year-end for earnings over $600). You're free to work anywhere else simultaneously — we don't care and have no non-competes.
We route encrypted voice calls. We capture the patient's name, phone, state, age, and stated concern — only to hand off to you. We do not store clinical observations, diagnoses, or treatment plans. That's your job, in your own records system. Full details in our HIPAA Business Associate Agreement.
If clinically appropriate, you send an e-prescription to the patient's pharmacy using your own e-prescribing credentials (DrFirst, Surescripts, your EMR's e-Rx, etc.). Medicin doesn't process prescriptions — we just facilitate the call. The patient provides their preferred pharmacy at intake.
Patient disputes go to Medicin (we're the merchant of record for the platform fee). We handle it with the session data, call logs, and intake record. You're not on the hook for platform-fee disputes. Clinical disputes — if a patient is unhappy with your advice — are between you and your malpractice carrier, same as any patient encounter.
Yes. More states = more calls routed to you. Our patient queue filters by state automatically — you'll only see patients in states where you hold active licensure. Compact licenses (eNLC for NPs) are a great force multiplier.
Nothing. Medicin charges the patient a $150 platform fee. You're paid $50 from that for the call. No monthly fees, no onboarding fees, no hidden cuts. Stripe takes its processing fee from our side, not yours.
